Gomes Espumantaria & Jardim

A summer of bread and water? Not if Carlos Gomes has anything to say about it – it will be mainly bread and sparkling wine, with a touch of flowers thrown in. He was initially known in Comporta for his grocery store, which had been in the family for decades. In 2018 he opened the Gomes Casa de Vinhos & Petiscos restaurant, where the Alentejo cuisine and game dishes have won over the clientele. In 2021 he expanded the empire with two more ventures: a sparkling wine bar, which is also a florist, and a small bakery that has the best of what Comporta and its surroundings have to offer – with succulent chicken pies, Grândola sausage bread and sweet potato bread being the highlights. Just around the corner you’ll find Gomes Espumantaria & Jardim, which is designed to cater for breakfast, brunch and lunch, with everything accompanied by a generous selection of sparkling wines and champagnes.
