Within a few metres, the Paço de Arcos historic centre hosts a number of restaurants with the status of local institutions. Os Arcos is miles away from these – literally. A fifty-year old Marginal Road classic, it is mostly famous for two dishes: its shredded hare risotto and its prawn “açorda” bread soup. But there's more: the menu is especially rich in fish (including the rare “capote” wrapped fish), the service is Galician-style and excellent, and the wine list is as good as the rest.
Time Out tips:
– Desserts are another high point.
– Overdose on garlic with the al ajillo fried prawns and garlic rice.
– Rediscover a somewhat outdated dish: beef Wellington.
