A den of Sporting football fans, where famous club officials usually dine, but patrons of every stripe are welcome – the multiple club jerseys on the wall are there to prove it. This is a popular venue for watching football on TV – in game days, a reservation is particularly needed (go early on lunchtime too, it fills up quickly). It feels like an inexpensive eatery where specials are as good as the menu highlights – including the wonderful octopus fillets (on Wednesdays) served with rice.
Time Out tips:
– The proprietors have links to Ponte de Lima in the Minho region, and so they sometimes cook Northern food.
– The “tasquinha”-style fava beans are excellent.
– When you make a reservation, ask them to set aside some of their specialities for you.
