The first European outlet of a 30-restaurant franchise in China, specialized in the fabulous Sichuan cuisine, the most gourmet of all Chinese provinces. Several menu items are spicy; neophytes are advised to try the twice-cooked pork bacon, the roast chicken wings (very crunchy, with well-stretched skin) or, despite being from a different region altogether, the Peking duck (among Lisbon's best). Regulars should go for the mao cai, a bean curd broth with rice vinegar, anise, ginger, coriander and hidden treasures.
Time Out tips:
– Several dishes have mala, a mix of peppers and spice that will leave your mouth feeling numb.
– For some privacy, go up to one of the first floor rooms.
– Appropriately, the restaurant is located at the Rua da Pimenta - “pepper street”.
