Lisbon is full of great reasons to get out and make the most of every hour of the weekend. This guide brings together some of our favourite spots in the city, which you can spread across the two days however you like. Plans are guaranteed for every moment and every taste. The highlight? A leisurely visit to the Jeff Wall exhibition at MAAT. Grab your calendar and start booking now.

Start the morning with a pilates class at Prescription

There’s no better way to start the day than with the right dose of exercise. Where? At Prescription, a studio with a minimalist, relaxed vibe and several locations around the city. Their Pilates classes focus on breathing, posture, and toning – and don’t worry, there are different levels to suit all abilities. It’s a calm (but effective) way to wake up your body and make sure you’ve got energy for the rest of the day.

Have brunch with a view at MAAT Kitchen

Later, when hunger kicks in – and trust us, it will – pull up a chair at MAAT Kitchen for a seriously satisfying brunch. It’s the perfect spot for a laid-back weekend meal with stunning views over the river. From 10am to noon, dive into a menu packed with creative, healthy, sweet, and savoury options, all served on a terrace that makes you want to linger for hours watching the river flow. Spoiler alert: they serve oysters. And yes, they’re truly excellent. Still wondering if you’ll leave feeling full?

Spend the afternoon at MAAT

Save your afternoon for MAAT and take your time exploring the exhibition Jeff Wall: Time Stands Still. Photographs, 1980–2023. With over 60 works filling the entire MAAT Gallery, the images feel like scenes straight out of a film. Many are backlit, and almost all are as beautiful as they are unsettling. This is the artist’s first solo show in Portugal – a rare chance to get up close to his meticulously staged work that blends photography, painting, literature, and cinema. Take your time – you’ll want to see everything front to back… and back to front.

Enjoy a sunset cocktail at MAAT

Yep, it’s still here – and you won’t regret it. Guess the best way to top off a great day at MAAT? Sticking around a little longer. Until 31 August, every Friday and Saturday from 7pm to 9pm, enjoy cocktails and sunsets on the terrace, with discounted tickets and stunning views over the river. It’s the perfect way to toast to the weekend, culture, and the city as the day winds down.

Dine at Ajitama Ramen Bistro

After the art, comfort on a plate. Ajitama, in Chiado, is one of the best spots for ramen in Lisbon: piping hot, full of flavour, and always made with fresh ingredients. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, with plenty of choices for both meat lovers and vegetarians.
