Want a different perspective on North Korea? Provocative conceptual artist He Xiangyu – most famous for displaying the black goo left over from boiling 127 tons of Coca Cola – grew up in Kuandian, near the Chinese border with North Korea. His new work explores the potentially porous nature of such divides, and includes screenings of his recent feature-length film 'The Swim'. It features interviews with defectors as well as Xiangyu's own border-crossing 'performance': swimming across the Yalu River to North Korea.
