Former US Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld coined the term ‘known unknowns’ when attempting to wriggle out of a tricky question about Iraq, weapons of mass destruction and terrorism. For the Saatchi Gallery, the phrase has far less terrifying associations. They’re presenting the artworks of 17 artists that those in-the-know know, and those not-in-the-know don’t know. Or, put another way, they’re artists that deserve more mainstream recognition. And unlike WMDs, the artworks definitely exist.
