This is my local and I love the pub. Really cosy with tasty food and a nice relaxed atmosphere. There's pub quizzes and drinks offers most nights of the week and there's even a secret speakeasy bar tucked away in the back. sssh tell no one.

One small gripe is that despite regularly visiting the pub, there is one barmaid who insists on IDing me every time I come in, for each individual round of drinks bought. Whilst I'm happy to provide ID being 27 years old and respect her right to ask for it, she does it in a way that seems designed to embarrass. Such as not letting me pay my tab for an £89 pound dinner in which we'd had two bottles of wine until i'd gone back to the table and fetched my ID to show her. Despite the fact that i'd clearly already provided this to have been served. I wasn't even asking for more alcohol - just to pay my bill. Not sure what she was planning on doing? Asking me to regurgitate the wine consumed by my friends and I should I be unable to provide Identification? She then suggested that the ID I provided was not actually me in a way that seemed a bit mean girl at school esque.

Lovely pub but slightly let down by this officiousness.

The Washington is my local. How lucky I am! This is an easy review for me to write: beautiful pub with very warm decoration, tasty food, original drinks (my favourite so far: a beer lager on tap!) and very friendly staff. There are some board games if you're looking for group enterntainment and books if you're more of a loner. Comedy nights and pub quizzes are on some nights.

Only negative comments: I really don't recommend the brownie which I found really disappointing and the food in general is pretty expensive considering the location of the pub.
