Anyone walking past The Glory pub in Haggerston on a Wednesday night recently may have heard some intriguing and possibly disturbing noises spilling out of the east London LGBTQ watering hole. Yelps, squeals, screams, whoops, sighs, moans, cheers and sobs. Don't be alarmed London, this was just the sweet sweaty sound of the Mister Glory all-male beauty pageant try outs. Each week since the start of June, London's finest male specimens took to the stage to show off their damn fine, err, assets. And now, after weeks of fierce competition, the winners from each week will go head to head in the battle to be crowned Mister Glory.

I was lucky enough to be invited down on the first week as a guest judge (you can see me squished between the muscles above next to sparkly Giorgio, the winner of the first round) and I can tell you, the standard was high. Contestants dug out their finest attire and fought tooth and nail in three rounds: evening wear, talent showcase and swimwear. The glamorous judges were harsh, the baying crowd were harsher and the fabulous host Jonny Woo was the harshest of all, but the hopefuls strutted their stuff regardless. Just imagine Miss World, crossed with Ru Paul's Drag Race, divided byAndrew Logan's Alternative Miss World, with added 'Paris is Burning' and you're halfway there. It was mean, manly, messy and marvellous.

I'll be down there tonight whooping the finalists on as they fight to win the prestigious title (and the £1,000 cash prize!) and I recommend you come down too.

Doors open at 5pm, the show starts at 8pm. Find out more on the event's Facebook page.
