Londoners, show us your animal side!
To celebrate ZSL London Zoo's upcoming Animal Photography Prize exhibition, we're putting out the call for your photos of London animals. Whether you've got a cute pet you can't help but Instagram, or you're a pro at capturing wild urban creatures, we want to see London's animals through your lens. We'll feature the best submissions in our upcoming Time Out Takeover issue, which means your cat could be more famous than you ever imagined. Our three favourite photos will win a family pass to see the photography exhibition and a copy of the book, while our grand prize winner gets a powerful Canon 60D camera worth £600, and a place on one of London Zoo's photography workshops. Not bad, eh?
Breathtaking images depicting the magic of the animal kingdom will be on display in a stunning new exhibition at ZSL London Zoo from Friday 20 September.
The annual competition run by the Zoological Society of London was launched in 2012 in a bid to inspire amateur and professional photographers to get out and capture the wonders of the natural world - see the weird, wonderful and breathtakingly beautiful winning photographs at the outdoor exhibit.
Gillray's Steakhouse & Bar
Gillray’s occupies a large site inside the London Marriott Hotel County Hall, facing the London Eye and Houses of Parliament. Get the right seat and you'll be treated to some spectacular views of both, and down the Thames. It takes its name from the eighteenth-century satirist James Gillray, and features some of his works on the walls (though wisely they've omitted 'The Gout', his grotesque take on good-living). It's mostly about steak here, with T-bones, rib-eyes, fillets and sirloins alongside an imposing-looking 'bull's head' – a butterflied prime-rib weighing in at a kilo. Pork T-bones, Barnsley chops, loins of veal and BBQ spare ribs are also on the grill, plus there are burgers, slow-cooked lamb rump and seared cod with confit celeriac, broad beans and a sorrel and razor clams sauce, too. Afternoon tea also features, ranging from the traditional to a 'gentleman's' version with unlimited ale.
Venue says: “Make your Father’s Day and treat him with an incredible meat carvery and whisky tasting in Gillray’s Steakhouse and Bar on June 17!”
