Time Out says

Journey into the heart of the Afro-Futurist aesthetic with the Barbican Cinema's strand of films, which explore the space age imaginings and dystopian dreamings of a generation of film-makers. The line-up kicks off with 'Space is the Place', a 1974 cult classic that's built around jazz musician Sun Ra, who created an aesthetic for himself that merged African traditions and futuristic technologies. Then, there's a globe-trotting collection of movies offering new perspectives on Afro-Futurism, including a programme of sci-fi shorts by Afro-Brazilian filmmakers, and Canadian film 'Brown Girl Begins' (2019).
