Progressive hard bop saxophonist, a famous disciple of Charlie Parker –indeed, he provided the Parker impersonations on the soundtrack to Clint Eastwood's bio-pic 'Bird'. Pianist Bud Powell is another mentor, and McPherson's complete immersion within classic bebop gives him a historical grounding shared by few other contemporary players.
