Lewisham's first big event as Borough of Culture is a month-long celebration of local musical talent, and it looks banging. It's curated by Deptford's own son and Mercury Prize nominee Dave Okumu, who's overseeing a programme that mixes big names with grassroots artists. On Thursdays, local collective Steamdown will showcase a different artist each week at Matchstick Pie House. There are one-off gigs at nightlife venues across the borough, including Moses Boyd and Joe Armon-Jones. And the month's events will culminate in a big night at Blackheath Halls (Friday 25th March) which'll feature a supergroup made up of homegrown stars including Jessie Ware, Dave Okumu, ESKA, Yazmin Lacey, Rosie Lowe, Tiberius B and more. Visit the We Are Lewisham website for full info on the cracking gig series.
