The Garage in Islington has been a mainstay of London’s music scene since 1993, hosting bands such as Oasis, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Radiohead and more.

Following a recent change of ownership to the DHP Family (the guys behind Oslo in Hackney), the whole venue has been revamped with a view to maintaining its title as one of the city’s landmark music venues.

The Garage itself has a capacity of 600 and has been restored to its former glory with a state-of-the-art soundsystem and a fully refurbished bar area. There’s some decent food offerings on site as well with the newly kitted out General Store and even a cheeky night club tucked upstairs, renamed Thousand Island, decked out with mirrorballs galore.

The Garage says
The Garage is a legendary London venue, regularly showcasing great live music and club events.

Opened in 1993, The Garage quickly established itself as the capital’s finest indie and rock venue; performing at the venue is a rite of passage for many bands. The venue has also hosted a number of underplays, with The Killers, Mumford & Sons and Suede being among some of the more recent acts to pack the venue.

Our main room is 600 capacity and is available to local and national promoters for live music events that are open to the public.

Avatar for Audrey Williart

I used to live literally 2 minutes away from The Garage. So every day walking back home, if it was sunny, raining, snowing or freezing, I could always see music lovers patiently waiting at the entrance. Most of the time, they were wearing black leather jackets and some tattoos, as the Garage is famous to play some pretty serious Rock. But not only. I came twice and the first time saw the Do and We Were Evergreen, two cute French bands. The second time I saw Milky Chance, this time a cute German band. One thing I have recently noticed is that they've closed part of the Garage (the small room where I saw Milky Chance) to open a cocktail bar. I guess that's the price to pay when you become too hipster.

Came here for an event (why else would people go there actually...) and the venue was cosy enough to be engaging but also not too loud to not be able to hear each other. The door staff were friendly and there are 2 bars for such a small place. Location is easy to find as well and is a short walk away from highbury station or a longer walk to angel. Had a good night out!
