Friday Night is Music Night

Lesley Garrett and a hostof starry performers join the BBC Concert Orchestra under Gavin Sutherland to perform songs from the golden age of musical theatre, straight from the operetta stage and the music hall boards. Sounds from Gilbert and Sullivan's Savoy Operas and the bittersweet satire of Noël Coward, old-time evocations ranging from Edward German's 'Merrie England' to Noel Gay's 'Me and My Girl', and nods along the way to stalwarts of the scene including Billy Mayerl and Richard Addinsell, all culminating in a grand tribute to the talents of Ivor Novello.
