A dressy local for Notting Hill’s smart set, Chakra presents its dishes with a modern flourish and a hefty price tag. Droplet chandeliers, dimpled banquettes and a stylish cream colour scheme add to the sense of occasion. The cooking styles of Indian royal courts are emphasised on the menu, along with the occasional nod to street food. Well-priced lunchtime and pre-theatre deals are worth checking out.
Meals can be memorable, yet we noticed a dip in standards for a couple of the regional specialities. Good news first: patiala lamb chops (a signature dish) were supremely tender and owed much to an astringent lime and yoghurt marination spiked with garlic and ginger, and to just-so chargrilling. Chakra also produces an outstanding okra dish. This much maligned vegetable is sliced into slivers and dusted in chilli-spiced gram-flour before being fried: a crunchy, flavoursome treat, and a great match with pomegranate raita.
The rest of the meal was disappointing. Blandly spiced bengali fish curry was let down by a lack of mustardy bite and a cloyingly sweet coconut masala; and service fell short of expectation, with staff needing to be a sight more familiar with their menu.

I have visit this restaurant with my parents those are indian food fan than I am as often I find indian meals can have a lot of ghee in them however this was not the case at Chakra so I would happily go back, We had ordered for a mixed platter of chicken, kebab and a tempura coated fish they were the best I have ever had, the staff was very friendly!! The drinks selection was so good as were the cocktails and the decor of the restaurant is beautiful, it was an amazing experience at Chakra!
We have Visited this restaurant in the last month with my relatives for enjoying the Indian food & drinks, the atmosphere was so good and services was also good and better then expected. It was really a good experience with Chakra. And if you wants to enjoy with testy Indian food then i will recommended to Chakra which is best Indian food restaurant at affordable rates. We will visit this restaurant again !
We were very disappointed with our experience at Chakra. Service was very slow. Our starters were tasty although they brought us the wrong kebab. The main courses were lukewarm. The prawn curry was tasty, the soft shell crab not so much so. The crispy okra was anything but, chewy and came cold. They don't have a long wine list but had run out of the Sauvignon Blanc which was disappointing. To cap it all they tried to give away my coat to another customer and only my partner spotting this averted a disaster on a cold night. I would not return and would not recommend to anyone. Particularly disappointing as we chose it for a birthday celebration on the basis of the Time Out review which I completely disagree with.
Went to chakra for the Sunday lunch menu. Service was extremely slow. Arrived at 1.40 and only left at 3.40. The deal was £16.95 for eat as much as you like of the start, main and desert. But it took Soo long for each course that we afraid to order more of that same dish as we may have been there all day. The food on offer was sweet potato, and chicken kebab to start, chicken curry, Dahl, rice and bread for main, and mango ice cream to finish. The only other option being vegetarian. I think one of the reasons it was slow service was because the owner was in there with his family and it seemed to make all the wait staff serve him faster and more efficiently than the rest dining. Food was nice but not amazing. Won't be going back.
I had a really good experience at Chakra. The interior is perfectly decorated with cream and brown colours, the service helped us with the dishes selection in a nice atmosphere, but the best thing was the amazing food. Everybody must try!!!.
An extremely inviting interior and a gracious reception was just the first impression. One glance at the menu assured us that the food would not simply be a reprise of the standard fare offered by nearly every other Indian restaurant. We ordered a couple of dishes that sounded great and then left the final selection to the charming and knowledgeable staff. What followed was a well balanced feast of exquisitely prepared dishes which was quite simply one of the best meals I have eaten, whether Asian or Western.
