Horniman Museum Cafe
© Horniman Museum and Gardens

The Horniman family’s Victorian conservatory was relocated from their Croydon home in 1982 after falling into disrepair. It’s now home to the quirky international café at this gem of a museum. Mains such as lasagne and own-made pizzas mingle with healthy options (cous cous-stuffed peppers with salad) and simple kids’ meals (sausage, chips and peas), all served with a yoghurt or fresh fruit. A range of outdoor seating comes into its own in the summer months, and a smattering of picnic benches in the landscaped gardens make the best of Forest Hill’s sweeping city views.
