An attractive spot on Stoke Newington Church Street gives Il Bacio an instant advantage, and very reasonable pricing also helps secure it as a firm local favourite. The menu has a Sardinian bias, with plenty of seafood and regional specialities among the usual trattoria classics. Sardinian flatbread adorns the bread basket, and the distinctive Sardinian semolina and saffron alternative to potato-flour gnocchi also crops up.
Calamari piccante came with a sauce not so piccante as to overshadow the squid, and the dough for our campagnola pizza was robust and well seasoned; the topping (olives, rosemary and Sardinian salami) was perhaps a little miserly, but tasty all the same. Another attraction is the house wine: very drinkable and a steal at £15 for a litre. However, wine tumblers are no more than terracotta thimbles, so it’s easy to lose track of the tally and end up a little merrier than anticipated.

I live in Stoke N, and I like this restaurant! They are two, I prefer the smaller one. I completely recommend it and I don't agree with the comments below. Go and see for yourself :)
Posto orribile. Pizze scadenti, servizio peggio. Mi chiedo come riesca a stare ancora aperto...
Im italian myself and i have to say that my first and last visit to this place was very disappointing. Without getting in too many details, I have to say that the good was just average and the service was just unbelievably awful!!! A good advise: avoid it!
The delivery order we had from Il bacio was absolutely disgusting - we threw it away and made eggs for dinner, it was that horrible. Couldn't get through to the restaurant to tell them what a bad job they'd done either. Pizza arrived cold, our ravioli was 6 pieces of supermarket pasta in oil with a couple of tomatoes and our salad was hot. It's a shame as there are now a number of good Italian/Sardinian places opening up in the area and if they continue at the level of quality they are they are really going to start losing customers. We wont be ordering from or going there again.
I'm Italian myself and I would say, without going too much through details, that it's the proof that if you have an Italian name and you are in a nice area doesn't really matter about the quality of food you serve or the service you provide. Both very disappointing, especially the second one. It was packed of people and I really don't get why! They also charged us an extra beer on the bill! Definitely to avoid!
Went to Il Bacio as was walking around in Stoke with my girlfriend looking for a place to eat. We have tried Datte Focco (very nice) so thought that we'd give this one a go. What a disappointment !!! We have voted this the second worst service ever experienced (we both worked in hospitality). The manager/owner seemed ok but the waiter was dreadful. We had just sit down and they gave us a menu, less than a minute later, we were asked what we wanted to order even though we were still looking at the menu, when we said that we hadn't finished looking, the waiter asked us quite aggressively what we wanted to drink. Anyway, as was starving, went for the veal (nice but not very big portion), should have gone for pizza, they looked nice and copious. The wine was descent for basic Italian wine. As soon as my girlfriend put her fork down, they took the plate away from her ! Desert was acceptable. The waiter kept looking outside with a body language describing someone on the verge of suicide. Nice... Have to say that it's quite surprising this place has survived as there are a lot of friendly places to eat at in the area !
I've been here three times and had a brilliant time and really enjoyed the food immensely. My favourite is the 'Stokie' pizza which has a mouth watering combination of spicy pepperoni, blue cheese and chillis. The staff treated me and my friends with friendliness and were very fast to bring food and recommended dishes. There's a nice atmosphere with small vases with flowers and pictures on the walls. The food was good value for money, and the wine not too expensive either. The special board also looked nice, but haven't tried anything from it so far. I have just booked this place for my birthday, and I'm sure I'll have a great time. I really don't understand why this place has such terrible reviews, it seems like it's a different place.
if there was no star rating thats what I would have given them, they call this a pizza joint? i dont think so. Try Datte fuoco or even better trattoria sapori they do great pizza
This was the second time my friend and I have dined here and last night will be the last! Both times we have been served by a male waiter who blatantly would like to be else where. When we asked if we could order drinks and a starter whilst we decide what to eat, we were rudely told no and because it was a busy night we had to decide now! The pasta was bland and lackluster, I've tasted better pasta from a microwave meal for one. If I have to give any praise, the garlic pizza is tasty, but when you're served food from a sad, discourteous and scowling man, it doesn't really matter!
Just been to Il Bacio as the fabulous Il Bacio Express over the road was heaving........... What a difference 500 yards makes Service awful from three grumpy guys. Dull tasteless Bruschetta Pizza ok and fresh One Calzone/One Zola-too much mozerella shoved in Calzone. Didnt wait for desert The bill was the quickest thing that came all evening. Book over the road instead at Baccio Express Geat service,Great mains and fantastic home made Tiramisu
