Unless you’ve been living under a rock in the deepest recesses of the Australian Outback, you’ll be more than aware of Amazon. Heck, even the few Outbackers dotted about probably still order from the online retail giant and qualify for next-day delivery to boot. But us Brits especially love browsing those virtual racks, giving more than £20 billion of our hard-earned to the Jeff Bezos-run corporation in 2020 alone. So, what are we spending all that dosh on? Well, we had a little look and the results are both weird and wonderful. Fidget toys, for instance, seem to be high on our shopping lists, which is understandable given the past year (and then some) that we’ve all had, as are products to help us enjoy our food on the go, like one-shot blenders and handheld fridges. Intrigued? Have a look and see if you own any of the ten best sellers on Amazon.

Best Sellers on Amazon

In-ear headphones have come a long way since they debuted in the 1990s. Not only have the wires disappeared (although some purists prefer a tethered signal), but small no longer equals tinny. Few Brits go out without them and, according to Amazon, we still favour Apple above all else. Love them or loathe them, there’s no denying that they make good (and good looking) stuff. Their slick AirPod Pros top the list, no doubt thanks to the extras like varying silicone tips, so you can find your perfect fit, noise cancellation, transparency mode and a charging case as standard.

You can’t beat a good bit of classic design, which is why this iconic Casio F-91W has remained a best seller since it first graced shelves in 1989. Now the shelf is virtual, but the unisex digital watch is the same reliable offering as ever. Affordable, lightweight and with a clean and easy to read display that satisfyingly lights up green at the push of a button. And let’s not forget it’s other fab – if not necessarily essential – functions, such as the daily alarm, stopwatch and water resistance for up to 30 meters that genuinely works.

You’ve no doubt heard of the NutriBullet, a convenient blender for single serving smoothies, but it comes with a hefty price tag that inches towards the £100 mark. This Breville Blend Active that everyone seems to be fond of is a fraction of the cost (£30) and does the same job. Chuck in your fruit, veg and ice into the bottle part, screw on the lid with the blades, slot it into the base and blend. Then simply detach it, swap the blades lid for the drinking lid and hey presto! You’re ready to head out, smoothie in hand.

There are few things better than sitting in a park, at the beach or in the tub with your favourite music, radio or podcast. That’s probably why portable speakers are high on Amazon’s top sellers list, especially the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2. This palm-size speaker has a handy elasticated hook, you can pair two together and control the music from either device, and you can bag one for under £100. But the best bit? It not only floats, but is made to be accidentally submerged under water, so if it falls in the bath it’ll still work.

If there’s one thing Londoners understand, it’s multitasking. Time is precious, so almost everything needs to be done on the go – emails, messages, catching up on shows and podcasts, even eating and drinking. This is where the Thermos Stainless King Food Flask comes in. This retro = beauty can hold the equivalent of a 400g can of soup, the outer lid doubles as a cup or small bowl and the inner lid holds a fold-up stainless steel spoon. It’s durable too and will do a good job of keeping whatever’s in there hot or cold for up to five hours.

Sure, we like blankets and we like hoodies. But combining the two? Only a madman would attempt such a thing! Oh, they already have? And it’s a hit? Of course! The Sienna Hoody Blanket is the item no one knew they needed until a year-long lockdown was imposed and now they can’t get enough of them. It’s made from soft fleece with a Sherpa wool-style lining. Naturally it has a hood, but it’s longer and baggier than a normal hoodie, so you can lounge with ease. Plus, unlike the wide-armed slanket, these sleeves are elasticated, so no wet cuffs from accidental tea dipping.

If you hadn’t already noticed, the fidget age is officially here and it comes in all shapes and sizes. We came across a bunch of fidget bits in our search for best sellers, from popping shoulder bags to tube toys, but the standout was this tiny kawaii keyring. Stick the Squeeze-a-Bean Squishy Soybean on your keys and you’ll always have it to hand when you need to kill time or relieve a spot of stress. When you squeeze the pod, the beans pop out with a funny little facial expression, let go and they pop back in. Endless fidgety fun.

To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Mulholland Drive, David Lynch’s surreal (is there any other kind?) psychological thriller, StudioCanal is releasing a 4K restoration of the film approved by the director himself. It’ll be in select cinemas, but also released as part of a 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition in December and Amazon shoppers are lapping up the pre-orders, in preparation for Christmas no doubt. In this new boxset, which features all new artwork, you get the DVD with extras including interviews, a couple of posters, five art cards and a booklet of essays by film critics Anna Smith and David Jenkins, a former Time Outer.

Forget old school coolers you have to put freezer packs in, travel fridges are the future. Plus they’re dual purpose. Yup, with this Russell Hobbs 4L Retro Mini Cooler you can either choose to chill your food or keep it warm. No wonder it’s so popular. It has a carry handle and, to make travel even easier, it also comes with a 12V DC car adaptor, so you can literally charge it on the go. Obviously it’s not huge, but you can fit around six 300ml cans in there along with something slim in the door pocket.

Last year vinyl outsold CDs for the first time since the compact disc came out and, in the first half of 2021 alone, sales increased by 108 percent on the previous year. So it’s hardly surprising that a 12” record made Amazon’s best sellers list. What is it? Pre-orders of Crawler, the upcoming fourth album by post-hardcore punks Idles. The Brighton mob are releasing it on recycled vinyl, which is made from the leftover wax, so not only is it extremely eco-friendly, but it comes in a multitude of colours. Each copy is unique and you won’t know what colour you’re getting until it’s in your hands.
