This alternative take on the London Marathon replaces the traditional 'run' with a more manageable 'walk', and moves the event from day to night. Participants can tackle the full marathon-length walk of 26.2 miles (starting at 8.15pm, arrive 7.30pm), or opt for the half marathon option (starting at 9.45pm, arrive 9pm). You can also choose which type of cancer you want to raise money to beat, meaning your sponsorship will go directly toward the cause closest to your heart. The walk will start and end at the Battersea Power Station, and take in plenty of lit-up London landmarks.
Walkers should be over 13, and 13-to-17-year-olds must be part of a group that includes an over-18-year-old. See the website for details of how to donate or take part: www.shinewalk.org/timeout.
