Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg

Fresh from completing his first Ring cycle, David McVicar mounts his new production of Wagner's Midsummer's Day comedy. Gerald Finley makes his role debut as Hans Sachs, the canny cobbler-poet who helps a young knight to win the hand of a goldsmith's daughter, with Festival debuts for Marco Jentzsch (Walther), Anna Gabler (Eva) and Johannes Martin Kränzle (Sixtus Beckmesser). Vladimir Jurowski conducts.
