This offbeat musical from New York is a lyrical take on the Orpheus myth
Ooh, this is one to get excited about: hit indie musical 'Hadestown' is coming to the NT, as it warms up for a run on Broadway. 'Girl From the North Country' fans are likely to be intrigued by its lo-fi mix of folk music and emotional intensity, based on singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell's concept album of the same name.
Made with experimental theatre hero Rachel Chavkin (founding artistic director of Brooklyn's TEAM), it follows Orpheus and Eurydice on their journey through an industrial underworld. 'Hadestown' has a loose 1930s setting, inspired by New Orleans jazz and retro Americana. Original off-Broadway stars Amber Gray and Patrick Page will reprise their roles as Persephone and Hades
