The Hippodrome Casino

There's plenty of history to this famous Leicester Square spot - more than 110 years of it, in fact. Today, it proves a West End draw. The three-floor casino offers electronic games and slots, plus table gaming including roulette, blackjack, baccarat, pai gow, three card poker and dice.

I am sure people's review ratings have a direct correlation with how much they won...

Even if you like a flutter or not, I do like this place. As long as you are over 18 this is a great venue for a quiet drink despite it being in the middle of tourist town. The food at Heliot's is amazing (steak restaurant - look that up in Timeout) and drinks on the balcony watching Leicester Square is also fun for the non gamblers.

For those of you who like a flutter, the casino has different areas and I was in Lola's which is in the basement. There are girls dancing but to me it was great to curvaceous ladies who dance well. I learnt how to play roulette which was fun and the croupier did a good job telling me the rules and also explaining when I won and how much.

Clientele is varied. A lot are tourists (Chinese are popular but we are next to China town and Chinese do like a flutter) but there are some hard city workers who clearly love their job as traders and carry that element on into the night. For me, I was happy with my £7.50 profit and went home happy.

Food, Drink, Entertainment! Even for a girl with no interest in 'the tables' this is a fabulous venue where the fun never ends!!

Came here for some drinks to celebrate a friend's new job - she works in the hospitality industry so there aren't too many places still open past 1am on a Saturday night - and holy crap was I impressed. The staff were so nice and helpful, very pleasant, and very accommodating to our rather large group of 15 or so. We were able to find places to be seated and have a few drinks and some nibbles, both of which were delicious and insanely reasonably priced as far as central London goes! I would totally go back - we didn't even play any games, so I wouldn't mind trying my hand at a few while sipping a delicious double G & T! ;)

The thought of ‘gambling’ had always terrified me and I had frequently walked past the hippodrome thinking that people who went in there were only rich bankers who had lots of money to throw away and ‘someone like me’ wouldn’t have a place there. Oh what a wrong prude I was. I had SO much fun. I set myself a £20 limit and ended up doubling my money. The staff were incredibly helpful, the overall ambience was exciting yet very laid-back and no pressure, and the bar was well stocked and reasonably priced. I can’t wait to go back for my next game of roulette!

You probably wouldn’t think a Leicester Square casino could serve a decent meal, but actually, it does, and the great thing is, they serve till late!

The steak in the fist floor restaurant is some of the most tender, juicy and well seasoned steaks i’ve had for less than £20!

Naturally in 2015, the year of feminism, it’s annoying to see waitresses dressed in corsets, fishnets and heels, after all this is a casino for both sexes, not a gentleman’s club, but whatever. The drinks at the bar are okay, some cocktails better than others (a decent classic gin martini, a not so decent espresso martini) and in the most, they’re fairly priced for London. The bar snacks are incredible value - the vegetarian pad thai is filling enough to be a dinner, but is only a snip at £4, and really quite tasty!

It’s not a conventional dining out destination, but if you find yourself out after hours and a little peckish, this is a great shout. You might even be lucky on the tables downstairs, though my luck would have you believe that gambling is in general a terrible idea!

I'm almost not keen to write a review on the Hippodrome as it's my secret 'weapon' when I have friends visiting.  It's always spotlessly clean, has different areas to either gamble or just have a drink, live bands, beautiful dancing showgirls any my all time favorite indoor but outdoors patio.  Unfortunately they no longer do the hubbly bubbly (water pipes) on the patio but I'm hoping they bring them back soon!!

An absolute gem in Leicester Square, housed in beautiful building.  Fantastic that you do not need to register with a passport etc.  Just turn up (over 18) and have some fun in the casino or on the slots; suiting all budgets.  The intimate cabaret room offers various acts and live music.  Also offering great food at reasonable prices including the Heliot steakhouse with the added benefit of a trendy cocktail bar / lounge bars.  If you are stretched there are plenty of cheap eats in the vicinity beforehand.

Not forgetting all the wonderful helpful staff!

Great place for everyone over 18! If you love a flutter, its all here under one roof, from low min machines and tables to the very serious PokerStars level. The building is stunning, great place for dinner, a show and cocktails. I've been there loads, sometimes I play some BlackJack sometimes I don't gamble at all!
