This is Nursing

This exhibition looks at the past 200 years of nursing, drawing on the library's archives to illustrate the progression of the profession with the introduction of education. In the early days there was no guarantee that those calling themselves nurses had any training, qualification or skills, while today all new entrants are required to follow a degree programme. The displays also trace the evolution of medical apparatus and uniforms.
