This looks like being the first BT Sport Premier League offering that will have Sky Sports subscribers wondering seriously about the new kid on the football-broadcasting block. And it may be the first of many. BT Sport’s portfolio for the business end of the season is distinctly more impressive than its pre-Christmas one.
Early days perhaps, but this has the look of a defining game. Arsenal have thus far dispatched the lesser lights of the league with an efficiency not seen since the days of the invincibles. But their record against the bigger clubs remains mixed: victory over Liverpool was swiftly followed by defeat against Moyes’s mid-table Mancs. If Arsene Wenger’s team can win at the Etihad against free-scoring Man City, we really will have to start taking their title challenge seriously. Sky Sports subscribers – a pub lunch beckons…
