It is apparently a very busy time for James Beard-nominated chefs in Miami. Just last week we learned that Ghee Indian Kitchen’s Niven Patel is working on a new Italian concept called Ebra. And today we found out a little more about another new project coming from Alter’s Brad Kilgore.

Kilgore is coming to the Design District for his new concept, Kaido. It will be a Japanese-inspired cocktail lounge with indoor and outdoor seating. The food at Kaido, created by Kilgore, will consist of Asian small plates and appetizers such as uni fondue and wagyu katsu sandwiches. Cocktails by head bartender Nico de Soto will be the star of the show. The intimate lounge hopes to mimic the cozy bars of Tokyo in both its ingredients and style.

Kaido is set to open before the end of 2018. Shortly after, Kilgore and company plan on opening a second Design District restaurant called Ember, which will be located directly below Kaido and revolve around wood-fired food. And by the time that opens, fellow Design District newcomers Swan and Bar Bevy should have their doors open as well. Those trendy new concepts come from artist Pharrell and LIV’s David Grutman.
