Most bars in Miami have reopened by now, but what if you’re not ready to be elbow to elbow with strangers indoors? Sweet Liberty Drinks & Supply Co. has the answer: Sweet Beach. Its new temporary pop-up opens just two blocks east at the Shelborne South Beach (1801 Colline Ave, Miami Beach), and its taking over the Collins Avenue hotel’s oceanfront lawn for the next six months.
If the original location’s mantra is to pursue happiness, this one’s more like seize nature. The outdoor location is a tropical oasis with places to sit and dance while social distancing, as well as areas for lawn games like cornhole and a large inflatable screen that’s ready to make an appearance ahead of any major sporting event. Everything is outside and Sweet Beach even offers boardwalk access so folks don’t have to walk through the hotel to enter. Unlike the bar, kids are welcome to hang.
With the new space comes a fresh menu, featuring island-y takes on Sweet Liberty’s classics. There’s the Queen’s Park Swizzle, a mojito-meets-bellini with Havana Club rum, peach and Perrier lime; the lychee and cucumber cooler with either vodka or gin; and the South Beach spritz, an easy daytime sipper with Grey Goose, Martini vermouths and sparkling rosé.
Sweet Beach officially opens on New Year’s Eve and will remain open through summer 2021 (Thu, Fri 4pm–midnight; Sat, Sun noon–midnight). Follow them on Instagram for the latest news on programming, DJs and more.
