Miami’s bars may be shut down right now but they’re not out.

Our beloved watering holes are getting some much-deserved recognition from the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation, who just released this year’s list of regional top 10 honorees for the 2020 Spirited Awards. Now in its 14th year, the awards honor the professionals, organizations and establishments that have elevated the spirits industry. Even though the splashy ceremony has been postponed, the foundation found it important to recognize the beverage professionals who’ve made an impact, even if it’s only virtually.

The awards are broken into regions in the United States (East, Central and West) and Internationally (Europe, Middle East & Africa, Asia Pacific, and The Americas (Canada, Latin America & the Caribbean). A huge congratulations are in order for a number of Miami bars, who are holding it down for the eastern region. Earning multiple nods are Café La Trova, whose co-owner and cantinero Julio Cabrera has kept busy sharing cocktail recipes on Instagram and Le Sirenuse, whose head bartender Valentino Longo recently went around hand-delivering cocktail kits to raise the spirits of out-of-work industry friends. There’s also Downtown’s Jaguar Sun, which has pivoted from cocktail bar to takeout restaurant to commissary kitchen that feeds local hospitals.

Cheers, everyone! We can’t wait to drink inside your hallowed walls and celebrate your accomplishments IRL very soon.
