We’re not sure who needs to hear this, but it’s finally the weekend. Sure, we’re still in lockdown mode and everything in the city is closed save for parks, golf courses and marinas, but we’re so ready to let loose. Here, we’ve rounded up some fun things to do this weekend that are safe to enjoy while practicing social-distancing.

1. Stroll Vizcaya’s iconic gardens. The waterfront mansion opens its outdoor green space to the public on Sunday. Wear your mask, pack a bottle of water and take mom on a walk through one of the city’s most beautiful backyards.

2. Hit up the mall for a drive-thru farmers’ market. On Saturday, Aventura Mall hosts its second farm-to-car market from 11am to 3pm, featuring the mall’s regular mix of vendors selling homemade empanadas, jams, baked goods and flowers, among other things. Shoppers are encouraged to pre-order online and pick up in person. On Sunday, the Shops at Merrick Park hosts theirs in the mall’s parking garage at the entrance on US1 and Ponce de Leon Blvd. It runs from noon to 5pm and shoppers can purchase from their cars.

3. Go to the ballet. The Miami City Ballet presents a world-premiere dance event titled A Dance for Heroes, inspired by and dedicated to the healthcare workers and first responders whose efforts during the last few months have been nothing short of heroic. The piece, which was choreographed digitally, will be broadcast on Facebook at 8pm on Friday.

4. Hop in your car for a drive-by bake sale. Lee Brian Schrager is back for his third Putting on the Pounds (LBS) Bake Sale to benefit the SOBEWFF® & FIU Chaplin School Hospitality Industry Relief Fund. This special Mother’s Day edition will be the biggest yet, featuring themed presents for mom, music by DJ Danny Stern and lots of VIP cohosts—like Nico Norena of the Succulent Bite, congresswoman Donna Shalala and Havana Club ambassador Gio Gutierrez. Boxes on sale this week include goodies from Night Owl Cookies, the Bagel Club, Cindy Lou’s Cookies and Cielito Artisan Pops. Everything will be priced at $25 (except for tropical floral arrangement by Caraluce Floral, which will be $50) and only exact change will be accepted. The sale kicks off at 11am and goes through 2pm or until items sell out. So hop in your car, get your cash ready and swing by Schrager’s “House on Hardee” for a worthy Sunday field trip. Follow Lee Schrager for additional details.

5. Celebrate spring. Mima Market and Radiate Miami partner with local chefs, farmers and various leaders in the health and wellness community to host a virtual spring festival. Each person will go live on their respective Instagrams throughout the weekend with workshops, seminars and cooking demonstrations with the goal of bringing attention to local makers during this tough time.
