Zoo Miami just shared the cutest birth announcement

Baby animals are the real MVPs of the pandemic. They’re making us smile when we need it the most and giving us adorable moments to distract us while we’re quarantined. We’ve seen penguins running around a Chicago aquarium and pandas getting frisky in Singapore, and now we have a couple of adorable creatures to keep us entertained right here at home.

Yesterday, Zoo Miami announced the birth of two clouded leopard cubs—a highly endangered wild cat found in the forests of southern Asia. The siblings, one male and one female, were actually born back on February 11 but have been kept in seclusion with their mother, Serai, to avoid any external stress. We hear that.

It seems the kittens have been getting on great, nursing regularly and getting their vaccines without incident. Zookeepers are being extra careful when handling them, following the news that a tiger at the Bronx Zoo tested positive for Covid-19. Everyone is required to wear masks and gloves and disinfect their feet/shoes prior to entering the feline area.

Endangered cubs, they’re just like us: sheltered in place.
