April is Miami's exhale. The snowbirds are starting to flock north, the Ultra and spring break aftermath has settled, and the city gets a moment to be itself again — which, as it turns out, is pretty great. This month brings the Miami Film Festival, O Miami Poetry Festival, and Miami Beach Pride's full eleven-day program of drag shows, parades, and everything in between. Up north, Tortuga Music Festival takes over Fort Lauderdale's shoreline, while down in Homestead, Miami-Dade CountryFest brings two days of rodeo and livestock to the fairgrounds. A new event, Tequila Town makes its debut in Hialeah for anyone who needs a reason to drink on a weeknight. Warm weather, good programming, and no one fighting you for a barstool. This is the month.

Approximately every other Sunday (check their calendar for exact dates), 125 vendors convene along the promenade to showcase their wares and barter with discerning shoppers. Find everything from mid-century furniture to Art Deco decor and more. The long-running weekend social presents a solid mix of 19th and 20th-century memorabilia and unique collectibles. While you're there, stock up on locally grown produce, fresh flowers and artisanal goods from the Lincoln Road Farmer's market, which occurs every Sunday from 9am to 6pm.

Art, sexuality and cultural taboos converge at the Museum of Sex with the debut of its latest exhibition, Hard Art: Unruly Selections from the Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection. Explore decades of boundary-pushing works spanning the 1930s to today, pulled from the private collection of one of the world’s most dynamic collectors. From playful to profound and, at times, deemed too provocative for public display, the featured works include a wide range of media that challenges convention and invites conversation. Curated with the goal of amplifying underrepresented voices and celebrating uncensored expression, artists on view include Marco Brambilla, Jimmy DeSana, Bunny Yeager, John Kayser and others.

  • Pinecrest
This long-running, weekly farmers’ market is well stocked and well attended, featuring a bounty of produce from nearby farms in the Redlands and Homestead, live music and a free yoga class at 8:30am. Vendors set up in the beautiful tree-lined parking lot of Pinecrest Gardens, which makes a weekly shopping trip pretty idyllic. Don’t miss the selection of local honey, tropical blooms and other specialty items, including cheese from independent dairy farmers and homemade guacamole. While the market takes place year-round, some growers opt to only participate during the fall and winter seasons, so consider this the best time to go. 11000 South Red Rd, Pinecrest

  • Wynwood
The Wynwood BID and Panther Coffee are launching a new monthly live music series, bringing free afternoon performances to Panther's outdoor patio on select Thursdays. The inaugural set on March 19 features Shira Lee — whose fingerpicked blues and country twang carry traces of Middle Eastern musical traditions — alongside Cuban singer-guitarist Rey Rodriguez, whose songwriting draws on Cuba's roots, blues and classic country. The two perform together with two guitars and Cuban percussion in a set built for the relaxed outdoor setting. Future dates are April 16 and May 14.

In the winter of 1984, Jack Pierson left New York for Miami Beach and spent six months in cheap apartments, thrift stores and the city's queer nightlife scene, capturing a barrier island on the brink of transformation. The Bass is currently showing the first exhibition devoted to that chapter, tracing Miami's impact on Pierson's photography, sculpture, installation and works on paper through a body of work steeped in desire, wanderlust, loneliness and the particular kind of escapism South Beach offered before Art Basel made it expensive. The anchor is ARRAY (MIAMI), a new ten-by-fourteen-foot commission combining Pierson's own photographs with posters, poems and postcards in a dense, layered collage.

Grammy-nominated producer Rachel Faro spotlights both legends and rising talent as curator of the 2026 Faena Jazz Series. Now in its eighth edition, the stylish music series brings six performers from across the globe to Faena Theater's intimate stage in Miami Beach, spanning jazz and blues to bossa nova, samba and swing. The season opened in February with celebrated vocalist Catherine Russell — the remaining shows are well worth putting on the calendar. On March 18, rising British vocalist Stella Cole takes the stage; April 15 brings trumpeter and vocalist Benny Benack III, whose hard-swinging sound mixes virtuosity with genuine charm. Brazilian icon João Bosco performs May 6, weaving samba, bossa nova and MPB into a richly layered set, followed on June 3 by mandolin innovator Hamilton de Holanda, who brings breathtaking technique and deep Brazilian jazz roots to the Faena stage. The series closes June 24 with OKAN, the Juno Award-winning Afro-Cuban duo led by Elizabeth Rodríguez, blending folk, jazz and global rhythms into an electrifying finale.  Tickets for individual Jazz Series performances start at $70, with specially priced season ticket packages available ranging from $390 to $990. Check-in begins 45 minutes before showtime, and performances are open to guests of all ages.

Every third Thursday, Lincoln Road transforms into an open-air gallery crawl in step with Miami Beach's Culture Crawl. Participating galleries open their doors with new exhibitions, artist meet-and-greets and giveaways. Postcard maps, QR codes and signage along the promenade make it easy to navigate. The permanent outdoor sculpture collection gives you plenty to take in between stops. Highlights include Ignacio Gana's Chocolate Girl, an ode to womanhood cast in gold; Philippe Katerine's inflatable pink figures perched Where's Waldo-style along the strip; Ruben Robierb's sweeping Empower Flower; Oscar Esteban Martinez's fragmented portrait La Herencia Viva; and Gillie and Marc's wildlife sculptures scattered across the promenade.  And if you're already on Lincoln Road on March 19, stick around: the ninth annual open-air tango season kicks off at the Euclid Oval from 6–10pm, with free lessons led by professional instructors followed by three hours of social dancing under the stars.

  • Overtown
Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency presents Sepia Vernacular, an exhibition that places Overtown’s past back into public view. Drawn from the City of Miami Planning Department archives, the show features more than 80 rare photographs from the 1920s–1950s, including selections from Max Waldman’s 1947 Color Town series, documenting daily life across the streets, businesses, families, and social spaces that seldom make it into Miami’s official histories. The exhibition will be taking place at the newly restored Lawson E. Thomas Building, which once served as the office of Miami-Dade County’s first Black judge and a central figure in the city’s civil rights movement. A newly commissioned mural by Anthony Mojo Reed II adds contemporary context which, together with the archival photo exhibition, frames Overtown as essential to understanding Miami, not peripheral to it.

This moody live music series has been popping up in some of Miami's most intimate and iconic locales for years now. But the Candlelight Concerts at the historic Scottish Rite Temple just might be the most stunning yet. Set in a grand, atmospheric example of Egyptian Revival architecture built in 1924, these dimly lit performances transform the space with hundreds of glowing candles and live orchestral interpretations of modern music by local talent. What began as a classical series featuring composers like Mozart and Chopin now includes tributes to artists like Queen, Coldplay and BTS, plus themed shows featuring jazz, flamenco, film scores and more.
