In today’s world, everything worth visiting is immersive. It’s harder than ever to capture our attention, time and dollars, so everything from your favorite restaurant to your local botanical garden, has to level up and evolve. Gone are the days where we simply sit back and ‘watch’ (except for a good Netflix binge on the couch, of course – and we’ve got a guide for that). But for those times when we get an itch to leave the house and truly feel something, we damn well expect to be dazzled and delighted.

Enter: “immersive” experiences. Yeah, you know the type…the ones where you’re suddenly engulfed by art or you’re time-traveling thanks to a pop-up centered around nostalgia. Whether you love ‘em or hate ‘em, these experiences are here to stay. So, here are the top five immersive pop-ups and experiences to check out in Miami this season.

There’s observing art, and then there’s being entirely consumed by it. This is the case at Superblue Miami, which sees you walking through the imaginations and whims of some of the world’s most innovative artists. More than just a place to nourish your Instagram feed, Superblue elevates the experiential museum with meaningful themes and ideas projected from floor to ceiling. There’s Es Devlin’s ‘Forest of Us,’ a mirrored funhouse where walls react to your movements. Then there’s Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s ‘Pulse Topology,’ a light installation powered by you. And if you’ve ever wanted to know what flying on a foggy day feels like, suit up and dive into Teamlab’s ‘Massless Clouds.’ Once you’ve worked up an appetite, grab a bite at Blue Rider, Superblue’s whimsical technicolor cafe by artist Yinka Ilori. 1101 NW 23 St; Permanent; $29 Florida residents, $39 adults, $14 children

This pop-up is fully equipped with Golden Girls-inspired decor and memorabilia, from the Rusty Anchor Bar to Blanche’s Boudoir. Needless to say, there are photo ops galore. If you have an appetite for more than an Instagram moment, indulge in items like lasagna, sandwiches and slices of cheesecake courtesy of Fireman Derek’s… plus cocktails, of course. Last but not least, Golden Girls Kitchen is serving up the ultimate Sunday Funday, with a Drag Brunch you don’t want to miss. 350 NW 24th St; Nov 10–Dec 31; Tickets start at $34/pp

Northerners might laugh at the fact that we import snow to South Florida, but tropic dwellers deserve to know the thrill of sliding down a powdery hill on a snow tube. Located footsteps from Aventura Mall is Snow Carnival, a winter wonderland made up of over 350 tons of real snow! There’s a ‘Mini Matterhorn’ for icy daredevils, meadows in which to carve snow angels, plenty of photo opps with the usual holiday suspects (reindeer, penguins, Santa, oh my!) and even an igloo bar for adults to earn their whiskey jackets. 19501 Biscayne Blvd; Nov 23– Jan 8; $39.99 adults, $34.99 children

After a four-year hiatus, Luminosa is back at Jungle Island with over 40 larger-than-life lantern scenes along a mile-long path, all hand-crafted by over 150 artists. It’s like a glow-up around the world – both the real one and the fictional. Weave through a jungle of glowing leopards and elephants, dive into a coral and fish-filled installation of Atlantis, stand in awe at a glowing Pantheon (because the boys are probably already thinking about Rome) and finish off with a bacchanalia of Latin American folklore and figures, from Mayan temples to Day of the Dead calaveras1111 Parrot Jungle Trail; Nov 21–Jan 8; Starting at $29 adults, $20 children
