March 2021: Beach Pie is no longer at Time Out Market Miami and has since closed.

Welcome to Food Envy, where we’ll highlight different dishes from Time Out Market Miami that we think you’re going to love—partly because we do. This week, we’ve got all eyes and two hands on Beach Pie’s cheesy calzone.

RECOMMENDED: Guide to Time Out Market Miami

It’s hard to improve upon pizza. And Beach Pie’s classic Margherita is as close to perfect as the humble pie can get. But on those rare days when perfection feels like too much of a good thing, we turn to the Market’s wood-fired pizzeria for something different yet familiar.

The calzone, the pizza’s more portable cousin, is the one we order when we’re craving something cheesy and with more carbs than your average slice. It’s oven-baked until the crispy dough rises around the gooey mozzarella like a big, bready dome. It all but collapses when you bite or slice into the calzone, making for one beautiful, delicious mess.

It’s served with fresh tomato sauce is served on the side, which you can use for dipping or slathering onto your calzone. Use as much or as little sauce as you like. Hell, if you want to skip the sauce altogether, that’s fine, too. Just make sure you ask for your marinara to-go and share it with us. We can never get enough of Beach Pie’s sauce.

Editor’s Note: Beach Pie closed at Time Out Market on December 2, 2019. Check back for a brand-new pizza concept, Peace Pie, coming this fall.
