Montreal Weather Alert: Heavy Snowfall to Hit Friday With Poor Visibility

A weather alert is in effect for Montreal and surrounding regions as up to 10 cm of snow and low visibility are expected Friday.

A special weather statement issued by Environment Canada cautions that reduced visibilities caused by snowfall rates of up to 2 cm / hr will occur between this morning and 5 pm.

Montreal, Laurentians, Montérégie, Eastern Townships and Laurentians will be affected with heavy snow spreading from west to east.

What is the weather forecast for Montreal’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend?

On Friday, between late morning and early evening, snowfall could reach up to 10 cm in Montérégie and the Eastern Townships, and around 5 cm in Outaouais and the Greater Montreal area.

Saturday’s forecast calls for clearing skies in the morning, with winds up to 15 km/h. The high will reach plus 4°C, though it will feel like minus 9°C in the morning with the wind chill. The UV index is 4, or moderate. Snow is expected later, with a low of minus 2°C.

On Sunday, expect flurries throughout the day, with a high of plus 2°C. Snow will continue into the evening, with a low of minus 4°C.
