Can you believe it’s already Labor Day weekend? Make sure to check all the items off of the kids’ back-to-school supply list and sign them up for one of NYC’s best after-school programs, because before you know it, they’ll be boarding the bus! Once they’ve tackled their first week back in the classroom, reward your little ones with some scholastic-themed fun at a back-to-school festival at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan.

CMOM invites families to come by for kid-friendly crafts and workshops and valuable info sessions for parents that are free with museum admission the weekend of September 6–7. On Saturday, kids can get hands-on in the kitchen when they design their own on-the-go snack bags and whip up healthy snacks with help from chef and author, Cricket Azima (2pm). Return on Sunday for a ‘Tips for Tots’ discussion with Stever Metzger, educactor and author of It’s Time for School, who will share strategies on getting the kids ready for the new year (2pm). This event is free, but make sure to get tickets at the Visitor Information Desk on the 1st floor. On both days, youngsters can drop in and get creative decorating book buddies to look like a school house, bus or box of crayons (10am–1pm).

If that's not enough to get your kids in the spirit, catch more back-to-school fun throughout the city, including a back-to-school bash at Habana Outpost on Labor Day and PS9’s annual Bounce Back to School Carnival on September 20.
