Now that much of the world has started opening back up after months of lockdown, the list of places you might be able to travel to this year is getting much longer.
The latest country to reopen is Costa Rica. The Central American nation resumed flights and started admitting international travellers on August 1.
However, only travellers arriving from a set list of countries will be allowed in. It includes Canada, certain countries in the European Union and the UK. From September 1, American travellers from six states – New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampsire and Vermont – will also be able to enter the country.
Tourists arriving from permitted countries will need to take out travel insurance from the Costa Rican National Insurance Institute, provide a recent negative PCR test and complete an online Health Pass form. Face masks are currently mandatory in all enclosed public spaces in Costa Rica.
Before this all happened, the country featured on a bunch of ‘must-visit’ lists for 2020, thanks to its lush rainforest, thriving wildlife, sustainable credentials and all manner of other brilliant things to do. Now travel is allowed again, we’re sure it’ll be top of a lot of people’s agendas once again.
Remember, many countries are still warning against all non-essential travel and some are quarantining all overseas arrivals, including their own returning citizens. Check all the relevant restrictions before you think about travelling.
