The world is filled with iconic skylines and landscapes – from rolling mountains to dense concrete jungles. And there’s nothing like a beautiful viewpoint to take it all in. But if you’re travelling somewhere new, it takes some research to hunt down the best views to be had.
Lucky for you (and your Instagram feed), a company called Buildworld has looked into TripAdvisor user reviews and mapped out the landmarks and structures with the most stunning views in every country on earth.
You’ll probably be familiar with the landmark that came out on top: it’s the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Thanks to its 360-degree, bird’s-eye views of the Parisian skyline, France’s ‘Iron Lady’ has more than 5,116 mentions of the phrase ‘beautiful views’ in her TripAdvisor write-ups.
In the Americas, both the Empire State Building and the Top of the Rock observation deck at the Rockefeller Building made the worldwide Top 10, offering breathtaking views of the NYC city skyline. The Chapel of the Holy Cross in the Arizona desert also made the list. Honourable mentions were the CN Tower in Canada, Chapultepec Castle in Mexico and the Elevador Lacerda in Salvador, Brazil.
In Asia and Oceania, top landmarks with picturesque views included the Kiyomizu-dera in Japan, the Uluwatu Temple in Indonesia and the Amber Palace in India. And, when it comes to epic panoramas, it’s hard not to mention the Burj Khalifa in Dubai: the tallest building in the world… for now.
