Dana Hoey goes for a knockout punch in her latest photos, which stem from her interest in Muay Thai, a form of martial arts from Thailand characterized by the use of elbows, knees and shins, as well as fists. Hoey trains as a kickboxer, and that regimen is reflected here in poster-like images of pugilists and a full-scale ring that hosted an evening of matches between women Muay Thai fighters. The violence of the work, both implicit and real, seems to channel a sort of fed-up feminist fury in the wake of #MeToo.
