Author and Skidmore professor Daniel Swift (Bomber County: The Poetry of a Lost Pilot's War) looks at the literary responses of writers—such as Dylan Thomas and Virginia Woolf—to the horrors they witnessed during World War II. In the cases of Thomas and Woolf, the traumatic German blitz reduced much of their environs to rubble.
