Carolines on Broadway
Venue says The First Name in Comedy! Located in the heart of Times Square, Carolines on Broadway is NYC’s top destination for live stand-up comedy.

Even comics who are regulars at the city’s other stand-up rooms have to work extra hard to get stage time at this venerable institution. Carolines is the best place to see marquee names, including sitcom-ready stars, familiar faces from the ’80s comedy boom, Friars Club–style spritzers and cable-special ravers. You’ll never see anything less than professional. Show times vary.

Carolines on Broadway says
Located in the heart of Times Square, Carolines on Broadway presents the best live comedy entertainment seven nights a week. Just steps from many of Broadwayʼs theaters, Carolines on Broadway provides the same quality entertainment one has come to expect on The Great White Way. Carolines first opened as a cabaret in Chelsea in 1982. Owner Caroline Hirsch, a lifelong comedy fan, soon began booking comedians, including now legendary performers like Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams and Jay Leno As comedyʼs popularity surged in the 80s, so did Carolinesʼ popularity, and the club moved to the historic South Street Seaport where it established itself as the countryʼs top comedy venue. It also served as home to A&E ʼs popular award-winning series, “Carolineʼs Comedy Hour.” When the club relocated to its current home at 49th and Broadway in 1992, it presented the country’s top comedians — including Dave Chappelle, Kathy Griffin, Lewis Black, Tracy Morgan, and Kevin Hart, to name a few — in a sophisticated, state-of-the-art nightclub, bringing the comedy experience to new heights. Today, Carolines on Broadway is a New York institution and holds center stage in the heart of Times Square as one of NYCʼs most popular and enduring nightspots and only genuine nightclubs. The 300-seat club with an elegant decor received critical acclaim when it received the American Institute of Architecture Award for Best Interior Club Design and was featured on the cover of Interior Design Magazine.

Definitely the best and most approachable comedy venue in the city.  Seating is comfortable and open, and the food is actually pretty good!  The talent they get speaks for itself.

I don't think it's been updated since Bill Hicks last performance of his career back in '94...

As a visitor to NYC, I just didn't get how it can claim to be 'America's Premiere Comedy Nightclub'

I know Comedy Clubs are dark and dingy, but this place needs a re-fresh.

You might say, it's to see the talent, but on a Saturday and after the show,  a group of over 10 of us all felt we hadn't had a 'great night' and it just wasn't 'that' good.

It's hard to pin point what's wrong without actually going... and that's the problem, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Went on a Saturday Night.

Went to the Time Out Comedy Showcase and was laughing nonstop.  They had a great lineup with many comedians from Comedy Central. A great evening and event
