The Maine Attraction, age: “What’s legal?”; burlesque performer; Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn
“A mentor once surprised me with this Winnie the Pooh costume because it was a nickname of mine. He wanted to inspire me to create something…and here we are today.”
Gal Friday, "ageless"; burlesque performer, Murray Hill
"I look forward to supporting Stella and Dangrrr’s new show. I love that there’s something for everybody, to showcase everyone’s talents. Neo, classic, nerd—I love that everything is getting represented."
Stella Chuuu, “25 or 30”; cosplayer; Astoria, Queens
"We started RAWR because we really wanted to do a Monty Python show. So we decided to team up and create a burlesque empire from there. We also have a cult classics show in the works—we’re all about atypical nerdlesque."
Dangrrr Doll, age: “I grew up with Super Nintendo”; burlesquer and costumer; Ridgewood, Queens
“RAWR! is playfully quirky burlesque; it’s anything goes, and all about fun. And even though we’re in a divey bar, we’re giving quality acts. We motivate performers to bring their A-game.”
Cheeky Lane, age “unlisted”, burlesque performer; Prospect Park, Brooklyn
"I use a very modern song, but invoke classic burlesque with fan use. As neo as my acts get, I like paying homage to the classic style because it’s the reason we’re here. Everything has been done, but it's nice to do my reinterpretation of things for my taste and to add my contribution.'
