Radically adapted from a Philip K. Dick short story published in 1956, Minority Report is an elaborate whodunit, in which Tom Cruise's detective spends most of the movie as the primary suspect in a suspenseful will-he-do-it. Liberated from the oppressive shadow of Kubrick, Spielberg invests the film with his customary kinetic brio. Von Sydow plays Cruise's shady superior.
