There is a town in northern Ontario; it may have little in the way of dream comfort, but for Walter (Stormare), this Mennonite hamlet has memories to spare. A police officer with an anger-management problem, Walter killed a man out of rage here once. Faith and a meek wife (Plimpton) now help him stick to a righteous path, until the murder of a young woman throws everything off-kilter. The combination of provincial accents and Stormare's patented creepiness make Fargo comparisons inevitable, though Canadian filmmaker Ed Gass-Donnelly's tongue isn't anywhere near his cheek. Rather, he delivers a redemption parable that occasionally finds balladlike lyricism in its biblical solemnity and oddball Lynchian rhythms.
