It's no surprise that Catherine Russell sings jazz as if to the manner born: In a sense she was, given that her folks are composer-arranger Luis Russell and bassist Carlene Ray. Having headlined Jazz at Lincoln Center's bigger Allen Room not long ago, Russell returns for a longer engagement in the more intimate Dizzy's with her hard-swinging combo.
