Late-blooming acoustic folk-blues singer-guitarist Chris Smither has been performing since the mid-'60s, but it's only in the past decade that the wry, gruff-voiced picker has emerged as a full-time recording and touring artist. He's one of those musicians whose work sustains a level of quality for years without ever garnering too much attention, but Diana Krall, for one, noticed and covered Smither's "Love Me Like a Man." Expect to hear from Smither's nicely lived-in latest, Hundred Dollar Valentine, when he drops by the Rubin's Naked Soul acoustic showcase tonight.
