Ryan McAdams conducts the Second Instrumental Unit in a new opera-ballet by Jonathan Dawe, who uses fractal geometry to rework sounds from the Italian Baroque into flamboyantly gnarly new shapes suited to the fantastical saga of Ariosto's Orlando. Among the singers are two particularly striking performers, countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo and mezzo-soprano Hai-Ting Chinn; Austin McCormick choreographs the dance-theater ensemble Company XIV, and Alastair Boag directs the entire affair.
