Charlie Looker, a key local avant-gardist working at the crossroads of metal, folk, avant-rock and contemporary classical, celebrates Dream Seeds, a new Northern Spy full-length by his chief project, Extra Life. It's a typically harrowing effort from the band, juxtaposing proggish pummel with lush art song, and bound together by Looker's wicked lyrical perversity.
