The self-titled Engine Studios CD by Baltimore's Whoarfrost is hands-down one of the most intense albums we've heard this year. It lays free-jazz energy over a posthardcore template—as though a Dischord Records outfit like Void or Hoover were being forcibly sucked through an ESP-Disk wormhole.
