After the Revolution

The idealistic young Emma (Katharine Powell) discovers an unsettling stain on her red-diaper family mythology in Amy Herzog's navel-gazing drama. Herzog keeps its stakes low as Emma unpacks and repacks her emotional baggage, surrounded by sounding boards for her troubled-liberal angst. The excellent supporting cast (including Peter Friedman, Mare Winningham and Lois Smith) deserves a more interesting center to revolve around.—Adam Feldman
