The sickening 1999 "Hello Kitty" torture-murder of a Hong Kong nightclub hostess is among the inspirations for Kathy Ng's magical-realist exploration of the life that continues after and around people's deaths. The play earned Ng a slot in Brown University's MFA Playwriting Program, which she is set to begin this fall; Kat Yen directs its world premiere for the Hearth Theater Company.
